Blurb
After centuries of solitude the stars are finally aligned just right. The handsome Deveraux brothers of Louisiana are going to meet their match this Hurricane Season.

Sebastian Deveraux is the Alpha of his pack and like all the Deveraux men, he’s sexy as pure sin. He’s waited for decades for just the right woman. For his mate. And ten years ago he’d been sure he’d found her in Amanda St. James. But she’d run from him.

Now she’s back. He’ll do anything to keep her. Even if it means chaining her to his bed.

Thoughts
Werewolves are my favorite heroes in romance novels, followed closely by cowboys. I couldn’t wait to read this book and started it right after I snatched it up. Selena Blake knows how to keep the readers turning the pages. I couldn’t put it down.

The Cajun’s Captive is a short read, that is hot and tells basically the whole story in a little amount of time. I didn’t see anything that was missing. With most novellas, I feel as if I missed some of the story, not so here. I got the back story and the current story all in one. This book drew me in and made me pace wanting to grab book two. I definitely will be.

Review – Temporary Arrangement by Karen Erickson

Temporary ArrangementGenre: Contemporary Romance
Series: The Renaldis Series, Book 1

Look, but don’t touch…

The Renaldis

Alone and broke, Paige Stewart can’t believe her good luck. Who hires a virtual stranger out of a New York City coffee shop to care for their adorable grandson? Apparently Claudia Renaldi does.

Widower Matteo Renaldi isn’t pleased that his mother found a replacement nanny so soon after he fired the last one. Yet little Matty takes to Paige like no other nanny before. And Matteo can’t deny he’s quite taken with her as well. She’s beautiful. Sweet. And far, far too young for him.

There’s something about the gorgeously sexy Matteo that fills Paige with longing to break through his wall of formality and touch his softer side. But no one knows better than she that crushing on her boss is one thing. Acting on those feelings is forbidden. Foolish.

Inevitable…

Thoughts
I love Karen Erickson. I couldn’t wait to read this free read. Temporary Arrangement is a prelude to the Renaldis Series. I can’t wait for book 2 which is the full story of Paige and Matteo.

A tortured hero, who feels guilty over the fact his wife is dead and even guiltier over the fact that he doesn’t really miss her, Matteo spends all his spare time with his son, who is his life. After a string of nannies that haven’t worked out, Matteo’s mother comes to the states to help out with her grandson and the nanny search. When his mother hires one that she met in a coffee shop while interviewing others, without a background check or references or anything, Matteo is furious until he sees how his son reacts around her.

Kayla is extremely down on her luck. She’s broke and a long way from home. After being nearly raped, then dismissed from her job as a nanny (where she worked for a year), she’s close to calling home for help. Then an Angel in the guise of Claudia saves her.

There was too much heat for these two to fight it for too long. I hate that it was left with a cliffhanger, but I will definitely buy the next book as soon as it comes out.

Review – Blood Oath by Charity Santiago

Blood OathGenre: Paranormal Romance
Series: The Rapid City Wolves Series, Book 2
Borrowed my copy using Amazon Prime on May 28th, 2013

Blurb
Eve has claimed leadership of the Rapid City wolves, but her insistence on maintaining a platonic relationship with her beta werewolf, Max, has caused friction within the pack. Centuries-old tradition mandates that Eve and Max must be mates as well as co-leaders, but Eve’s heart and soul belong only to Jericho, the vampire that Max has sworn a blood oath to kill.

To make matters worse, Jericho has all but disappeared, and the only indication of any vampire’s presence in Rapid City is a sudden rash of brutal murders. Eve knows that claiming Max as her beta wounded Jericho deeply, but surely her decision wouldn’t drive her soulmate to start killing again…would it?

Thoughts
I read the first book and immediately had to go grab the second. And damn it, the third one isn’t out yet. Uhhhh! I love this series. I totally connected with Eve. I don’t understand how Jericho stays away from her for so long, but he definitely comes around when she needs him the most.

There is so much I want to say, but I don’t want to spoil the book for you and what I REALLY want to talk about would be a HUGE spoiler. Let’s just say there are twists and turns in this book that I didn’t see coming. I completely agree with Eve, even though at the beginning I didn’t see how she was upset over something that happened over a 100 years ago, I totally got it at the end.

Eve came to Rapid City to escape her parents’ messy divorce, but what she finds in South Dakota exceeds her wildest dreams- and nightmares. After Eve is attacked by a wolf outside her grandmother’s house, she stumbles into a new and frightening existence as an alpha werewolf. Fated to lead the pack and obligated to choose a beta to lead beside her, Eve still cannot bring herself to forget Jericho, the mysterious vampire who saved her life. Will the wolves force Eve to choose between her destiny and her soulmate?

Thoughts
I really got into this book. I could totally relate to Eve’s plight. She was just trying to help out her grandma, when her whole life changes. Then, she soul bonds to her mortal enemy. That is so what would happen to me. I mean yes, she’s lucky she found her soul mate at 18, but really, how lucky is it that he’s a vampire when they are werewolves worst enemies, especially after she just gets turned into a werewolf.

I wanted to like Max and did at first, but he seems kind of manipulative now. I am buying the second book and reading it now. Look for its review tomorrow. Blood Lust definitely drew me in. I loved it and couldn’t stop reading.

More Than FriendsGenre: Contemporary Romance
Series: The More Than Series, Book 1
Bought my copy from Amazon for $4.99 on May 29th, 2013

He was her best friend until he became her fantasy.

Lucy Lawson’s got it bad. Bad as in stunned speechless by the situation she’s in, by the feelings sitting on her chest, ready to explode. She’s in love with her best friend.

Problem is, telling Sebastian Blackford could destroy the best thing in her life, but the longer she keeps her feelings under wraps, the stronger the need to spill her secret.

The last thing Seb suspects is that his best mate is madly, wildly in love with him, or that he’s the star of her seriously dirty fantasies. Worse, he’s just started seeing someone he’d like to see again and Lucy knows it.

So why does her confession hit him like a runaway train? And why can’t he get her explicit description of her fantasies out of his mind? They’ve never been more than friends, but now that he knows how Lucy feels, everything is out of whack.

Seb figures it’s up to him to get their relationship back on track. He’ll do it too, just as soon as he establishes which track is the right one.

Warning: After reading this, you may just be tempted to jump your best friend. It’s recommended you keep your partner on speed dial or a toy with fresh batteries on standby.

Thoughts
I needed a lighter read after the book I read before this one and thought this would be perfect. It was just what I needed. Steamy hot chemistry and sex with some angst. It took a lot of balls for Lucy to tell Seb how she felt, and his reaction was less than perfect, in fact it was pretty much THE WORST. I can’t imagine how she felt.

Once they worked everything out, I was extremely happy. I didn’t need any extra drama or details, to me this was the perfect amount of everything.

Review – Willing Sacrifice: A Paranormal Werewolf Fantasy by Cree Walker

Willing SacrificeGenre: Paranormal Romance
Series: The Sugar and Spice Series, Book 2
Bought my copy from Amazon for $4.99 on May 29th, 2013

Blurb
Sugar is the widowed wife of Alpha werewolf Jack Coon. Werewolves mate for life, and normally when a mate dies the other is soon to follow, but Sugar won’t and Jack’s ghost isn’t giving up yet. He wants what every werewolf wants…a forever mate, and if Sugar won’t die naturally he’s willing to force the situation.

In this story Sugar makes several willing sacrifices for her freedom and that of her Pack – some of which that will haunt her forever, and one that puts her in debt to a Reaper.

Thoughts
I read the first book in this series, Whisper on a Scream (review here) and loved it.  I couldn’t wait to read the second book. Sugar is one strong as steel woman. I don’t know how she lives through everything she has. Then all the shit that hits her in this book, well let’s just say she is amazing.

I couldn’t decide if I liked Robert or not. He seemed like an ass for most of the book. In the end, Sugar finally gets some happiness and is finally loved the way she should be. I can’t imagine living with the secret of the price she bargained with the Reaper for. OMG. There has to be a third book. PLEASE CREE, I need MORE!

I cried, like literally bawled throughout most of this book. It’s a very emotional read. I’ve never cried like that while reading a book. When a book can bring out my emotions that strongly, to me it’s a very well written book that drew me into the characters so closely that I could literally feel their pain. I loved it.

Testing Fate by Belinda Boring

Testing FateGenre: Paranormal Romance
Series: The Mystic Wolves Series, Book 3
Purchased my copy from Amazon for $2.99 on May 28th, 2013

Blurb
Nothing burns as bright as the flames of the refiner’s fire.

Moments after hearing the Council sentence her enemy to life imprisonment for attempted murder and illegal use of magic, Darcy is whisked away by the Fates—accused of tampering with destiny. The cherished dream she shared with Mason has been called into question, placing doubt about whether they are actually true mates. To resolve it, a price must be paid—the Heart or Death—a grueling series of tests designed to reveal a person’s worth.

The stakes are high and Darcy finds herself facing the unknown in conditions that leave her more vulnerable than she’s ever been. Separated from Mason and her Pack, with Devlin as her only companion, she is pushed to her very limits. She must succeed—or lose everything.

Will she crumble under the pressure or emerge stronger for testing fate?

Thoughts
I have read and loved all of the Mystic Wolves series. I was waiting on this book when I found out – it was already released. I was so excited I bought it immediately and started reading it. It hooked me right back into this story. I love Mason and Darcy. They’ve been put through the ringer and it just doesn’t quit. Ms. Boring has been killing me (and not so softly) with the cliffhanger endings in the first two books of the series. There’s another one here, but it’s not as bad. I can live with this one.

Devlin is my favorite secondary character. I can’t wait until he finds his love. He deserves it so much. I have a feeling he already has and just doesn’t see himself as good enough for whoever it is. I can’t wait to find out if I’m right. I love him.

Review – He Ain’t Lion by Celia Kyle

He Aint LionGenre: Paranormal Romance
Series: Ridgevilee Series, Book 1
Bought my 3 book set from Amazon for $5.99 on May 27th, 2013

Life sucks… And then you get turned into a were-lion…

Curvaceous, blonde bombshell Maya Josephs is looking for a little action to take her mind off of her recent break-up. Crazy were-cats or not, an evening at Genesis is exactly what she needs. And when she meets the hotter than hot, super-sexy owner, Alex O’Connell, the alpha lion shifter is just the man to fit the bill for a one-night stand.

Dumped like a rotting piece of meat by her ex, Maya is on the prowl, fixin’ to do whatever it takes to get herself a piece of the gorgeous fur-ball. Besides, what’s the harm in a girl having a little bit of fun?

Thoughts
I can ALWAYS depend on Celia Kyle for a laugh and an extremely sensual story. I love her shifter romances. When I need a laugh, I automatically search her on my kindle. She cracks me up. An example, the second paragraph of this book was: “Shit, fuck, damn, and growl.” That cracked me up. I loved the heroine’s sense of humor in this book, example: “Maybe she shoulda brought catnip along, as a peace offering or something.”

This book was hot as hell, there was frequent scorching the sheets (or wall or wherever they were) moments throughout the whole book. I loved it, between laughing and squirming in my chair, I was extremely happy with this novella.

Review – Just for Fun by Erin Nicholas

Just for FunjpgGenre: Contemporary Romance
Series: The Bradford Series, Book 4
Won during a blog tour on May 15th, 2013

There’s having fun… And then there’s falling in love.

The Bradfords, Book 4

It was a chance meeting, a spontaneous, hot moment, a never-to-be-repeated encounter. So when the gorgeous redhead he knows only as Sugar walks into the bar and heads straight for him, Doug “Dooley” Miller knows he’s in trouble. But he’s sure not going to mind.

She needs a date to some swanky something-or-other. He’s a fish-sticks-and-denim guy, but for a woman who’s not afraid to get naughty in an elevator, he can stand a couple days of smoked salmon and Armani.

Morgan James admits she doesn’t really know Doug, but she needs him to keep her mind—and hands—off her ex. A man who, despite the fact he stole her ideas, she’s afraid could charm her into repeating her mistakes. Only Doug can make her forget the weasel exists. Besides, it’s just this one time.

What started as not even a one-night stand has Dooley feeling things that he’s never felt before. And that’s outside of the bedroom. Don’t even get him started on what’s happening between the sheets. Why does he have a feeling that, as far as flings go, they’re doing something wrong? Then again, if they’re falling in love, they might just be getting that right..

Thoughts
I read the first three books of this series a while back and didn’t realize there were more books until I was asked to pick a book from Erin Nicholas’ back list. I was so excited because I loved the first three books. The whole Bradford clan (even the extended family of friends) is a group I would definitely hang out with. They know what’s important in life.

I really didn’t think these two would ever get their shit together. They were both so stubborn and hard headed. Then their friends didn’t help. I can’t believe they left Dooley hanging like that, after how he helped them. The ending was perfect, and I will definitely be grabbing the next book in the series. Kevin deserves his love as well. I can’t wait to see how his story works out.

Review – Boots and Lace by Myla Jackson

Genre: Erotic Western Romance
Series: Ugly Stick Saloon, Book 4
Won my copy on Blog Tour

Blurb
“She wants no strings…but he wants it all. ”

After her philandering husband left her, Lacey Lambert found sanctuary, and a better class of friends, at the Ugly Stick Saloon. She learned that the best revenge-against her ex, and the “friends” who kicked her out of the Temptation Garden Club-is to live life to the fullest.

Now that her best friend is moving out of her apartment building, she’s feeling a little lonely. And more than ready for a little commitment-free sex with the hot new downstairs tenant.

Freshly divorced, Nick McBride isn’t looking for another failed relationship. But when the luscious brunette offers no-strings sex-with him and his brother-he can’t come up with a good reason to refuse.

After he gets over the shock that she likes it loud, long, and in front of an open window, he finds himself wanting more time with her. Maybe even on a permanent basis. But it’ll take every ounce of his cowboy charms to convince her to let him sweep her off her feet.

Warning: Contains a motorcycle-ridin’ cowboy, a wild-and-free woman who doesn’t care what the town biddies think, and semi-public sex loud enough to set tongues a-waggin’!

Thoughts
Ugly Stick Saloon is one of my favorite series. I love cowboys and Ms. Jackson definitely knows how to write some hot ones. Lacey is very open with her sexuality. She’s willing to try anything, or at least that’s how it seems. To me, this is all an act to shock the pants off everyone. She’s a sweet  and loving woman who was burned by her asshole ex. Nick has the same problem. They have both been burned and are both scared of commitment. When push comes to shove though, they both realize what they want and it’s a lot more than a fling with each other.

I think the author did an amazing job with these two characters. Lacey pushed Nick way past his comfort zone, and he needed it to see that she was nothing like his ex. She loved it just the way he did, anyway you can get it. The scene when Nick’s ex showed up had me crying I was laughing so hard. The chemistry between these two had my kindle hot to the touch. It was scorching!
