“Sometimes out of the frying pan and into the fire is the best way to burn. ”

A twin switch. A fake fiancé. An impromptu wedding.
Will it lead to true love?

Thoughts
I decided to go back through all the books I’ve downloaded for free and read a few. I’m so glad I did. Here Comes the Bride was a cute and fun story. My husband is a twin so I love reading stories with that twisted into the storyline. This was a fun example of mischief twins can get into.

Marci and Kimberly are identical twins, in looks anyway. In personalities, they couldn’t be more different. When Marci talks Kimberly into switching with her on a side job of pretending to be someone else’s fiancé for the weekend, she wouldn’t let Kimberly refuse.

Austin has always thought Marci was hot, but either she’s a really good actor or she hides a lot of herself from people at work. She’s completely different than he expected, and everything he never knew he wanted.

These two are so perfect for each other, it doesn’t make sense. This was a fun light read and I’m so glad I decided to read it. It definitely lightened my mood.

Review – Wolf’s Valentine by Rebecca Royce

Wolfs ValentineGenre: Paranormal Romance
Series: Westervelt Wolves, Book 3.5
Bought my copy from All Romance for $2.99 on February 14th, 2013

Jana thought she was through with Westervelt. Fleeing for her life thirty years ago, she’s hidden as a human ever since. But a strangely worded Valentine delivered to her desk at work has given her pause.

Malcolm never expected to find his mate working for a crooked company he was sent to investigate in New York City. But there she is. Now, on Valentine’s Day, the two will battle their attraction for each other while taking down a conglomerate built for the sole purpose of destroying the Westervelt Wolves.

Thoughts
Rebecca Royce and her Westervelt Wolves were some of the first paranormal romances I read. I couldn’t get enough. I loved coming back and hearing more about what’s going on. I will definitely be getting back into this series.  I love the world Ms. Royce built with Westervelt. It’s amazing.

Jana has been alone for over 30 years. She’s finally intrigued enough by a human to accept a date, a first for her. Her wolf demanded she would mate with a wolf. Little does she know, Malcolm is not only a wolf (who’s hiding his scent), he’s also her mate.

I loved this brief story and the insight of what’s happening in the Westervelt world. It’s nice to know they are getting closer to beating the boogey man.

“I have a proposition for you…”
Kacey should have run the minute those words left Seattle millionaire Jake Titus’s mouth. Instead, she made a deal with the devil in hopes of putting her past behind her once and for all.
Four days.
She could do four days!
But she wasn’t counting on Jake’s older brother Travis being there to witness their farce of an engagement.
One thing is for certain.
One brother is right for her.
One wants a lifetime.
And one is in league with the devil.
She should have gotten Jake’s signature in blood.

Thoughts
This was a fun and frustrating book. I laughed a lot and loved the play and banter the characters shared back and forth, but really wanted to smack the hero and heroine upside the head. It’s one thing for a little boy to be mean to a girl he likes, but when he’s still doing it into his twenties, something’s not right.

I didn’t know if Kacey was ever going to wake up and see which brother was the right one for her. These two deserve a happy ending and I hope to see more from them in another book, preferably Jake’s. I think he should realize he was wrong now and start looking for the right one.

Review – Sweet Satisfaction by Becca Dale

Sweet SatisfactionGenre: Contemporary Romance
Bought my copy from Amazon for $2.99 on May 27th, 2013

Blurb
Terrified of her submissive nature, Kate Hastings refuses to give a man control of her life. Somehow faking a wild and confident personality scares her less than facing reality — the heated longing for her sexy best friend and her deep-seated need for domination. Trouble is, none of the passive men she’s dated do it for her.

Victim to a family curse, Connor Wallace can love only one woman his entire life — Kate. Yet, she insists on keeping him firmly in the friend zone. Determined to prove he’s more than friend material, he sets out to fulfill her greatest fantasies, even if it means tying her up to get her attention.

When passion and protective instincts collide, something has to give, but will the impact lead to broken hearts or sweet satisfaction?

Thoughts
I read about this book on a blog and had to grab it. I’m so glad I did. This is just type of read I needed after finishing a very heavy on the emotions read. Kate is terrified of ending up like her mother, a sub dependent on a man, any man who keeps leaving. She doesn’t want the same type of man her mother has, she wants someone she can still control.

Connor, good guy that his is, has loved his best friend for three years; fell instantly in love with her. He’s tired of standing by and watching her with other men. He’s going to make her see him in a new light.

Ms. Dale did this perfectly. Neither of the two just jump in head first. They both fall ass over end. I loved how the play between the two and the chemistry was off the charts. I will definitely read more from Becca.

Thoughts
I love Jaci Burton. Her sports romance novels are some of my favorite. When I noticed this was a free download from Amazon, I snatched it up. I am so glad I did. I really liked it. There was a lot of chemistry between the two. I love the fact that the last two people who should be together, are true mates. I can’t wait to read more from the Devlin Dynasty Series.

Review – Pretty Kitty by Desiree Holt

Pretty KittyGenre: Paranormal Romance
Series: Cat Eyes Series, Book 1
Won my copy on Blog Tour for Buck Naked on Erzabet’s Enchantments Blog on May 25th, 2013

Blurb
Aisha McClellan has more trouble than she knows what to do with. A born cat-shifter, part human, part leopard, at the age of eighteen when she was just coming into her first heat, a rogue member of the pack attacked her and traumatized her, leaving her unable to shift.

Cast out by her pack, she makes a half-life for herself on the outskirts of both human and shifter societies, moving from city to city, seeking some kind of attachment. She’s been in San Antonio for about six months now and has taken to hanging out at The Litter Box, a bar where cat shifters go to relax. Several times she’s allowed herself to go home with someone she’s met there, but it’s always a disaster, and after that she’s careful to avoid them. Her best friend is the bartender, Max Rogan. One night when she’s drinking too much he coaxes her story out of her. He is appalled at how she’s had to live and what’s happened to her.

Thoughts
I love Desiree’s cowboys and wanted to give her shifters a try since I love them as well. I am so glad I did. This book dealt with some difficult issues and to me what seems to be how a lot of people deal with the issues involved. I know that quite a few women who have been sexually assaulted turn very sexually promiscuous. I find that I admire and respect authors who write about real life issues and how people deal with them just as Desiree has done here.

Aisha has been through hell. I can’t imagine being raped and then being banished from your whole family and all your friends. Max has suffered in silence watching her deal with her issues and wanting her the whole time. When a few too many drinks loosen Aisha’s inhibitions and she hits on Max a couple of times, things heat up.

Pretty Kitty was a really good book with a really good story line. I can’t wait to read more from the series.

Review – You’re Lion by Celia Kyle

Youre LionGenre: Paranormal Romance
Series: Ridgevilee Series, Book 2
Bought my 3 book set from Amazon for $5.99 on May 27th, 2013

Blurb
Newly turned lioness Maya Josephs is so not good at being the prima of the Ridgeville pride. She doesn’t give a damn about protocol or hierarchy, and the last thing she wants to do is play nice with the pretentious tigress shifter leader who’s come to pay her respects. Especially since the little bitch seems entirely too grabby with her mate, Alex, for Maya’s taste.

With new pregnancy hormones making her inner kitty extra bitchy, Maya’s not sure who she’s going to murder first: her gyno for discovering the pregnancy, her guards for following her every move (and annoying the living shit out of her), or the striped beyotch cooing over Alex. Screw it. She’ll start with the tigress and work her way around to the other two.

Lucky for everyone involved, it’s a good thing Alex knows how to tame her inner she-cat…and make her purr.

Thoughts
Ms. Kyle had me laughing again. I really liked this short story and got into it. I just think that Maya let Alex off the hook entirely too easily for allowing that Tiger to rub all up on him. I wish she would have built some more conflict in there. I mean she’s pregnant and is supposed to be extra emotional; surely she would’ve at least ranted at him. Instead he gripes at her. REALLY!
